The "Stamp Day" is organized by the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V., its regional associations and the Deutsche Philatelisten-Jugend e.V. It falls annually in Germany on the last Sunday in October, this year on the 29th of October. On this day, the organized philatelists will present their hobby to a broad public with a variety of exhibitions, advertising shows and bartering events. In doing so, they will clearly show that stamps are not just mere receipts of receipts, but rather impressive, living documents of history and current affairs. In 1995, all events on the "Day of the Stamp" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of 8 May (end of war in Europe) under the general theme of "50 years of ascent from the ruins." Since 1975, a special stamp for the "Stamp Day" has been issued in regular succession. The motive selected for 1995 shows a young sporty letter carrier. This year's special stamp comes with a surcharge. The resulting proceeds go to the »Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History«, which has set itself the task of promoting philatelic and post-historical aspirations of all kinds.
