The "Stamp Day" looks back internationally on a tradition of more than 60 years. Postage stamps for this occasion appeared in Germany since the beginning of the 40s in irregular sequence, in the Federal Republic since 1975 with few exceptions annually. As a rule, subjects with post-historical references were chosen. So also this year: You can see the replica of a sailor launched in June 1998, which transported post between southern Sweden and northern Germany at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. The original and the replica were baptized "Hiorten" (Swedish: "Hirsch"). The new ship will sail with passengers and freight between Karlskrona and Rostock.
