The motif shows the cathedral to Mainz. It consists of a double-choir basilica, which is crossed by a transept. There is a tower above the choirs and two smaller ones to the side. Remains of the early Romanesque building of about 1000 are still partially preserved in the eastern part of the building. Except for the west choir, which was rebuilt in late Roman times, the other parts of the building were completed in 1137. In the years 1767-74, the west tower had to be rebuilt after it had been destroyed by lightning. During the war, in 1942, the nave was also damaged and repaired. Catalog numbers 1 to 4 and 6 to 15 were published in April, June, July, August, September and October 1947 and February 1948 respectively. For the sake of systematics, the editorial board records the first day of each month as the issue date.
