Drawings of Young Pioneers The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues four multi-colored special postage stamps with drawings by Young Pioneers. The four stamps are combined with a midfield to a miniature sheet. No Special First Day Cover Envelope Drawings of Young Pioneers The stamp miniature sheet "Drawings of Young Pioneers" shows a few examples from the abundance of noteworthy artistic works of our youngest. Painting, drawing, modeling is one of the favorite pastimes of our children. For many, an activity in this field is already - even unconsciously - a way of dealing with the environment, even in toddlers and preschoolers. The pioneer organization "Ernst Thälmann" in the GDR used and further stimulated this natural urge of the children and in 1966 called it the "gallery of friendship" for the first time. Hundreds of thousands of 6- to 14-year-old girls and boys have been involved in this artistic competition ever since. They present their drawings, graphics, woodcuts, artistic handicrafts, carvings and sculptures to the respective jury. Art educators, teachers and pioneer leaders, parents, professional and lay artists are expert advisors and understanding helpers. Also in the year of the Xth World Festival in 1973, 455,671 participants showed their work in 4,911 exhibitions of their pioneering friendships. The best of them were each delegated to county and district exhibitions. The GDR exhibition organized by the Galerie der Freundschaft for the Jubilee Festival in the Altes Museum was a considerable part of the World's Fair, to which children from 27 countries submitted their contributions. The Young Pioneers of the GDR found their best work rewarded with eight prizes. The imagination and the wealth of ideas of the children, their ability to deal with color and brush in a lively and effective way, are almost inexhaustible. Therefore, the gallery of friendship will continue. Not a few of the artistic works of our pioneers will bring joy to those who daily create new conditions for the happy life of our youngest: the industrious working people in town and country and the soldiers with the red star. The Karl-Marx-Städter graphic artist Hans Detlefsen translated five designs of Young Pioneers into the brand image and created a colorful composition that reflects various areas of the life of the Young Pioneers of the GDR. My friend Sascha Birk Ozminski has shown his attitude to the great Soviet country and his people quite convincingly. He holds the hand of his friend firmly in the tunic of the Soviet Army, he - proudly wearing his scarf.
