On the XI. The regular meeting of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) in Vienna in 1982 marked a common theme for all member administrations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of CEPT. A bridge represents the symbol of communication and the exchange of communication. Since the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT), the CEPT Postal Administrations have been issuing European Trademarks each year. Each year, from 1960 to 1973, they shared a common, abstract theme each year and have since been dedicated to a different theme each year. For 1984, the CEPT has again opted for a common abstract motive to bring to public awareness the fact of its founding 25 years ago. The choice fell on a proposal from the postal administration of Monaco. The bridge shown there symbolizes the connecting task of the postal and the telecommunications. The CEPT was established as a result of the European countries' efforts to strengthen cooperation in the field of postal and telecommunications services on 26 June 1959 in Montreux (Switzerland). Its main objectives are to deepen relations between member administrations and to harmonize and improve their administrative and operational services. These include in particular: - the execution of works and services of common interest; - the simplification and improvement of services; - examining questions about their organization, procedures and procedures; - joint consideration of proposals before congresses and conferences of relevant international organizations; - the exchange of information and the exchange of officials. The conference is politically and economically independent; It carries out its activity in the spirit of the treaties and agreements of the Universal Postal Union and of the International Telecommunication Treaty. The General Assembly of the Conference shall designate the Administration which, as Managing Director, shall hold the Chairmanship and the Secretariat of the CEPT for a period of two to three years. This administration is supported in its tasks by a liaison office set up in Bern. At present the management is with the French postal and telecommunications administration. The CEPT has two commissions, "Post" and "Telecommunications", which work in numerous committees and working groups. In addition to the Deutsche Bundespost, the CEPT now has the postal and telecommunications administrations of the following 25 countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Yugoslavia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, Vatican City, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Cyprus.
