The countries of the European Conference on Telecommunications and Telecommunications (CEPT) issue European brands every year. In the future, however, it will no longer be common practice to use common designs as before, but only common themes. This was agreed in the VII General Assembly of the CEPT, which took place from 11 to 22 September 1972 in The Hague. For 1974, the theme »Sculptures« was chosen. Two sculptures of the sculptor Wilhelm Lehmbruck are reproduced, which were created under the designations "Kniende" in 1911 and "Emporsteigender Jüngling" in 1913. The sculptor and graphic artist of expressionism Wilhelm Lehmbruck was born on January 4, 1881 in Duisburg-Meiderich and died by suicide on March 25, 1919 in Berlin. He attended the Kunstgewerbeschule, then the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. On one of his trips abroad, he found his own style under the influence of Maillol 1910 in Paris. From his works from this period speaks a strong plastic feeling and a pursuit of classic clarity. The "kneeling," the "rising youth" and later sculptures reveal the search for the essential human form. The depiction of a dying warrior in the »fallen man« from 1914 to 1915 bears witness to Lehmbruck's despair at his time. His drawings, etchings and paintings in the manner of sketchy sketches complement his sculptural work.
