The member countries of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) have in the IX. Stockholm General Assembly in 1977 decided on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the CEPT for the European brands in 1979 to choose the theme »History of the Postal and Telecommunications Industry«. This stamp was designed after a newspaper wood engraving, which is also in the graphic collection of the Federal Postal Museum in Frankfurt am Main. The Prussian telegraph officer transmits a telegram text with the Morse key. The outgoing telegraph line is connected via a galvanoscope and a lightning rod. In front of the telegraphist there is a relief or pen recorder as receiver. The system is powered by batteries located in a box under the table.
