The member countries of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) have in the IX. Stockholm General Assembly in 1977 decided on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the CEPT for the European brands in 1979 to choose the theme »History of the Postal and Telecommunications Industry«. As a model for this brand was a color lithograph after E. Stammel, which is located in the collections of the Federal Postal Museum in Frankfurt am Main. An official of the Prussian postal administration sits at the post office counter and receives a letter from a lady in contemporary dress. On the switch table is a letter scale with weight set. There are a few letters lying next to it, other letters are in pick-up cases above the table. Also on display is an inkwell with a goose quill that was commonly used as a writing medium at that time; For it was not until the fifties of the last century that the production of steel springs in Germany commenced. In the box under the counter table are parcels and linen bags that were frequently used to send cash at that time. (Text: Federal Postal Museum Frankfurt am Main)
