The Niederösterreichische Landesausstellung des Jahres 1978 was under the theme "Hunt once and now". Due to its favorable geographical position, Lower Austria has a large variety of wild species. The rich hunting grounds in the Marchfeld were for centuries an important center of courtly hunting culture, and even today testify the Marchfeldschlösser castle courtyard, Niederweiden, Eckartsau and many others from the splendor of bygone days, as the hunting right in these game-rich areas still entirely in the hands of the imperial family and aristocratic landlords. Building on this tradition, the Niederösterreichische Landesjagdmuseum was established on March 13, 1959 in Marchegg Castle. The national exhibition of 1978 was also held there. Aware of the importance of hunters and conservationists, this national exhibition devoted a lot of space to the theme of "Conservation and Hunting". The brand motif shows some hunting props and a black grouse. You can see the hunting bag of a Count Thürheim from 1730 and a small-caliber rifle for bird hunting, a so-called Tesching. It was built in 1655 by Master Christoph Kloss for Emperor Ferdinand III. made in Teschen (Silesia). Both items are in the weapons collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
