KARL LANDSTEINER, serologist, was born on June 14, 1868 in Vienna. He discovered around 1900 the blood groups, in 1927 together with Levine the M / N system for differentiation of different blood types and in 1940 together with Wiener the Rhesus factor. Karl Landsteiner received the 1930 Nobel Prize. He died on June 26, 1943 in New York.
