Four cities from the two host countries Austria and Switzerland will become centers of the football world from 7 to 29 June 2008. The Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel, the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Klagenfurt Lindwurm and the Goldene Dachl in Innsbruck symbolize the venues of the UEFA EURO 2008 ™ in Austria. Vienna has the biggest venue of the UEFA EURO 2008 ™ with the Ernst Happel Stadium. In the Vienna Prater Stadium, the three group matches of the Austrian national team are played, two quarter-finals and a semi-final. Salzburg, the city of Mozart, is not only hosting festivals, but the Wals-Siezenheim stadium is also home to a newly built venue for the UEFA EURO 2008 ™. A new stadium has also been built in Klagenfurt, the Wörthersee Stadium is located near the shore of the Wörthersee. The Swiss will present the cities of Zurich and Basel as well as Bern and Geneva as venues for the UEFA EURO 2008 ™. The city towers of Zurich, the Rhine bridge with the Basel Minster, the Zytglogge of Bern and the fountain in Geneva indicate that in addition to football, a rich cultural offer makes the cities interesting. Basel is the main venue of the games in Switzerland. The opening match of the UEFA EURO 2008 ™ will take place on 7 June at St. Jakob Park. For this purpose, the stadium has been transformed into a new arena and is the largest Swiss stadium with 42,000 seats.
