Old Viennese institution and gourmet temple: For centuries you can meet friends and business partners in the "Black Camel" with delicious culinary delights or just let your mind wander. The current special stamp from the series "Gastronomy with Tradition" is dedicated to this special place in the heart of Vienna, which combines fine nobility in the ambience with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The history of the traditional restaurant begins in 1618, when Johan Baptist Cameel opened a spice factory. Based on his own name he baptized this "To the Black Camel". In 1818 the Bohemian accountant Joseph Stiebitz took over the business, titled it "Joseph Stiebitz and Comp." And expanded the range of delicatessens. Soon after, a wine bar was added, and the place developed into a popular meeting place of the upper Viennese bourgeoisie and many artists - including the composer Friedrich August Kanne and Ludwig van Beethoven, who could devote themselves here of formal etiquette to the culinary delights. In 1825, the "Black Camel" received the "k. u. k. Hoflieferant ", the house was completely rebuilt in 1901 and the interior was designed in Viennese Art Nouveau style - this is lovingly preserved to this day. For two generations now the family Friese has been running this oasis for gourmets. In addition to the continuation of the culinary heritage, it offers great variety: today the award-winning "Schwarze Kameel" not only includes a restaurant, buffet and wine cellar, but also a unique catering service far more than the legendary sandwiches offers. The heart of the restaurant is the bar, which invites you late into the night for a Viennese mélange or a glass of wine, and the delicatessen showcase, where delicacies such as caviar, organic salmon, goose liver, all sorts of pesto, jams or oils and much more are lined up , The representative Beletage can be used for various events. Since 2007, sweet tooths in the in-house patisserie get their money's worth: Here, handmade chocolates, seductive tarts and the finest confectionery are offered. The special stamp "To the black camel" shows in the background the bar with an excerpt of the selected wine offer, which covers a total of over 800 different wines. In the foreground of the brand is on the one hand the symbol of the famous restaurant to see - in the original, the black hump animal was designed by the former regular guest Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller - and on the other hand, the leg ham, a specialty, which is made especially for the "black camel".
