The geodesic day 1982 took place in the period from 1 to 4 September 1982 in the Wiener Stadthalle. This congress had the motto "Information Systems of Geodesy". Topographical and cartographic areas focused on spatial information systems. For the area of cadastral administration, especially property-related information systems such as the property database were in the center of interest. The special postage stamp issued by the Postal and Telegraph Administration on the occasion of the 1982 Geodata Day shows the symbol of this event and a depiction of the globe crowning the building of the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying in Vienna. The event symbol derives from the motto of the Geodetic Day 1982 - "Information Systems of Geodesy". The lower part of the symbol illustrates a forward cut - a method for determining the location of a point by measuring the direction of two different points. The arc in the upper part of the symbol symbolizes the amount of information collected by geodetic methods and managed by geodesists.
