Historic Post Office The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes four multicolored special postage stamps with illustrations of historical post offices individually and in combination. Special cancellation from 3 February to 2 April 1987 Historic Post Office 1.20 Mark value: Post Office Kirschau The building of the post office Kirschau was built in the years 1924 to 1926 in Art Nouveau style. After its completion in 1926, it started operating as a post office and telephone exchange. The building is a two-storey corner building with a rococo-shaped gable, flanked on both sides by single-storey towers of round ground plan with curved dome roofs. On both sides, one-storey side wings with hipped roof join. In front of the main gable is a three-armed staircase. The building is a monument of urban design and architecture.
