IFA - commercial vehicles of the GDR With the illustrations of IFA commercial vehicles from the GDR, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues six multi-colored special postage stamps. Special cancellation from 5 October to 4 December 1982 IFA - Commercial Vehicles 35-pfennig value: W 50 flatbed vehicle In 1982, the 350 thousandth truck of the type "W 50" left the assembly line at the VEB IFA Automobile Plant Ludwigsfelde. The high international appreciation that this truck of the 5-ton payload class enjoys is reflected in the export of more than 225,000 vehicles to approximately 30 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. The W 50 flatbed truck - one of the 53 basic variants and over 200 country-specific modifications of this truck - is particularly suitable for the transport of general cargo, equipment and people. The four-wheel drive, two-axle vehicle has proven its worth especially in difficult terrain conditions in tropical and subtropical climates.
