International Year of Women 1975 For the International Year of Women 1975, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes three multicolored special postage stamps in combination. International Year of the Woman The XXVII. UN General Assembly proclaimed 1975 the International Year of Women. The initiative for this decision was based on the IDFF, the largest and most important international progressive women's organization. She submitted her proposal to the Commission on the Status of Women, in order to give a new impetus to the fight against discrimination and for the equality of women. In its resolution 3010 on the International Year of Women, the United Nations General Assembly aims to: - promote equality between men and women; - to ensure the full involvement of women in the overall effort for development, in particular by emphasizing the responsibility of women and their significant role in economic, social and cultural development at national, regional and international level, especially during the second United Nations Development Decade Nations; - recognize the importance of the growing contribution of women to the development of friendly relations and cooperation among States and the consolidation of world peace. It calls on states and organizations to take action to ensure the full realization of women's rights and expects governments to provide equal pay for men and women where it has not. The GDR welcomed the proclamation of the International Year of Women and declared its readiness to contribute to its successful implementation. Here we assume that the citizens of the GDR are aware that in the German workers 'and peasants' state, as in all socialist countries, the equal rights of women is a social reality. In accordance with the decisions of the Vlll. Party Congress of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, especially in the implementation of its social policy program, the conditions are constantly being perfected, which enable women and especially the mothers more fully to participate actively in the formation of the developed socialist society. The GDR will support the great joint actions of the progressive forces in the world in the spirit of proletarian internationalism. She enters the world for the liberation of the woman everywhere. An important highlight of these actions will be the World Congress in the International Year of Women, which will bring together women from all countries in Berlin, the capital of the GDR. With the publication of three special postage stamps, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications follows a suggestion from the UN. Symbolically, the marks and the social role of women in different regions of the world is represented on the brands. The equal partner in the countries of socialism, which consciously participates in shaping the life of society. The woman in those countries of the world who have just achieved their state independence, learning and fighting a new life. And the woman who boldly and steadfastly fights against capitalist oppression, discrimination, violence and fascism as symbolized by the Chilean woman. Thus, these stamps reflect the participation of women in the revolutionary mainstream of our time. It also expresses the common desire of all women for peace and progress, social security, the security and happiness of the family. They also show the self-confidence and the power of the woman. The special stamps appear for the first time for the X. Federal Congress of the DFD, the socialist women's organization of the GDR. The congress will be held from February 27 to March 1, 1975 in Berlin. Here we will discuss how the DFD is involved in the further development of our socialist social order, how it is part of the struggle for relaxation and cooperation in the world. In this sense, the X. Federal Congress is a significant highlight of the GDR in the International Year of Women.
