Monuments of the Water Economy The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes four multicolored special postage stamps with illustrations of monuments of the water industry. Special cancellation from 21st of January to 20h. March 1986 Monuments of the water industry 35 Pfennig value: water tower Berlin Altglienicke, 1906 Even before education of large Berlin in the year 1920 went in 1906 the water plant Berlin Altglienicke into enterprise, to which a water tower belonged. Client and operator was the "supply association of the rural communities Adlershof, Altglienicke and Grünau". The elevated tank, which had a capacity of about 600 cubic meters, was built in brick neo-Gothic. The respective water level in the tank was indicated by an electric remote with writing in the engine room of the waterworks. Due to low network pressure in the pipelines of the supply area lost the water tower in importance and was decommissioned in 1956. Its structural shell is listed.
