The illustrated "Puch 175 SV" is one of the last small motorcycles with double-piston two-stroke engine, where "SV" stands for swingarm full-hub brakes. There was also a type "SVS" with 2 carburetors, in which the second "S" means sport and a "Puch 175 MCH" (Moto-Cross Army). The machines seemed to be beefier with smaller wheels, which allowed the suspension travel to be increased by about 15 mm. Originally with 10.5 liters too small failed tank volume was increased to 13 liters, just as the tinny sound of the mufflers was eliminated by an exhaust in large-volume, symmetrical design. Further improvements were made in the area of ​​the lighting system. A few more data: Two-stroke engine, single cylinder, displacement 172 cm3 ,, 10 hp at 5,800 rpm, fuel consumption 2.2 - 3.4 l mixture. In the years 1953 to 1967 81.005 units were produced by these machines. For the first time, the invention patented in Austria and Germany by Ing. Erwin Musger and Dipl.-Ing. Alfred Oswald, who used "Kraftradrahmen aus Blechpreßformteile". Similar to the aircraft industry maximum strength should be achieved with minimum weight, with frame parts, rear mudguard, tool container, etc. were combined to form a single sheet metal stamping.
