Continuation of the popular series "Motorcycles": The new value thematizes a piece of Austrian motorcycle nostalgia, the legendary HMW Z50 from the year 1953. The Halleiner Motorenwerke Hinterberger, Schreitl & Co., formerly Halleiner Motorenwerk Aktiengesellschaft, in short Halberiner Motorenwerke (HMW), were a manufacturer of auxiliary bicycle engines, mopeds and scooters. The location of the company was initially in Hallein, the end of the 1950s, the company was relocated to Kottingbrunn, a small community south of Baden near Vienna. History: In November 1948, the founding - among other things, by a certain engineer Anton Fuchs - initially as "engine factory Fuchs- Königer Aktiengesellschaft Salzburg-Hallein". Previously, the search for a suitable site for the production site had begun, which was found in mid-1948 with the partially fallow land of the former Grill-Werke. In early 1949, the company's location was relocated to hitherto unused halls. Some time later, in 1949, due to internal disagreements, a new foundation was founded on the company name "Halleiner Motorenwerk Aktiengesellschaft". As the once largest industrial company in the province of Salzburg, about 107,000 mopeds were manufactured in the Halle factory, the last vehicle left the factory in August 1958. As a result of the motorcycle boom in the wake of the economic miracle in the 1950s, it was decided to build a new plant. In the Lower Austrian Kottingbrunn finally a suitable area could be found. By mid-1958, a large factory, which at that time corresponded to the latest state of the art, was built. At this time, about 1,500 people were employed at HMW. With the assembly line introduced at the Kottingbrunner plant, production could be increased to two and a half mopeds per fitter, while in the old factory in Hallein the daily production was only 13 mopeds. About 60 percent of the manufactured two-wheelers were exported, including countries in Europe and South America as well as Hawaii and North and South Africa. A few years later, however, there was a dramatic decline in sales, which marked the beginning of the end of the company. Compared to 1956, sales of motorcycles and mopeds in 1960 were only one-tenth. On May 16, 1962 finally the last of a total of 128 175 HMW mopeds was delivered. The Z50, which adorns the new special stamp, is of course still one of the classics of this once important Austrian manufacturer.
