National Stamp Exhibition "DDR 79" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the GDR in Dresden From 10 to 19 August 1979, the National Stamp Exhibition "DDR 79" will take place in the halls at Fucikplatz in Dresden. It is organized by the Philatelistenverband in the Cultural League of the GDR and is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic. With her philatelic exhibits from all districts, she will give a representative overview of the possibilities of a modern socialist philately, which is an integral part of cultural folk art. Especially with the thematic collections, the "DDR 79" will document the 30-year development of our republic, it will reflect the successes in many areas of social life, represented by the way led by the working class and its Marxist-Leninist party and the prospects of further expression of the developed socialist society. With the "DDR 79" continues the series of large national exhibitions of philatelists, in the so far the I. DEBRIA (= German Stamp Exhibition) 1950 in Leipzig, the II. DEBRIA for the 10th Anniversary of the Republic 1959 in Berlin and the Performance shows for the 15th anniversary of the GDR in 1964 in Berlin, the 50th anniversary of the Great Socialist October Revolution 1967 in Karl Marx City, the 20th birthday of the GDR in 1969 in Magdeburg and the 25th anniversary of the socialist German state 1974 in Karl Marx City are called. In addition to the philatelists, other cultural leisure areas will also be represented on her with selected exhibits, which have found a home in the Cultural League of the GDR - similar to philately - for decades. For this special issue of the "DDR 79" interesting Dresden motifs were selected, taking into account the fact that many other attractions of the city have been previously displayed on postage stamps of the GDR. The value to 10 + 5 Pfennig shows the Gänsediebbrunnen. This stands in the White Lane, which was rebuilt during the reconstruction of the Dresden city center from a narrow, dark street into a bright and friendly pedestrian passage between the Ernst-Thälmann-Straße and the Kreuzstraße. The well placed there in the immediate vicinity of the Altmarkt is a work of Robert Diez and stood since 1880 on the 1945 completely destroyed Ferdinandplatz in the Seevorstadt. The figure of the goose-thief is reminiscent of the traveling student Thomas Platzner, who tells in his biography of how he stole two geese on the journey in 1572 near Dresden. In addition, brands like Block adhere to the emblem of the "DDR 79", which the Rostock graphic designer Jochen Berthold created for publicity promoting the exhibition.
