VIII. Pioneer Meeting, Karl-Marx-Stadt 1988 On the occasion of the VIII Pioneer Meeting in Karl-Marx-Stadt 1988, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued two multicolored special postage stamps, one of them with surcharge, in combination with an intermediate field. The proceeds of the surcharges will be used to finance the "VIII Pioneer Meeting in Karl-Marx-Stadt 1988". VIII. Pioneering Meeting By resolution of the XII. Parliament of the FDJ, the VIII Pioneer Meeting will be held from 14 to 21 August 1988 in the Karl Marx City district. With the VIII Pioneer Meeting the young and Thälmann pioneers are accountable for the fulfillment of their pioneering mission "On the side of the comrades - always ready!" for the implementation of the decisions of the XI. Party Congress of the SED, as a contribution in the popular movement for the 40th anniversary of the GDR, place. At the same time, it is being transformed into a major exhibition for the pioneering organization "Ernst Thälmann" on its 40th anniversary. The preparation and implementation of the VIII Pioneer Meeting is intended to promote the joy of young and Thälmann pioneers in learning and the love of science and technology, art, literature and sports. During the meeting, the pioneers will be offered a variety of opportunities, their urge to discover new things, to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in crafts, puzzle and research, experimentation and design. Founded on December 13, 1948, the pioneer organization has made many highlights in its forty-year history. The tradition of pioneer meetings began in 1952 in Dresden. He was followed in 1955 by the II. In Dresden, in 1958 the III. in Halle, 1961 the IV. in Erfurt, 1964 the V. in Karl-Marx-Stadt, 1970 the VI. in Cottbus and 1982 the VII in Dresden. Like the others, the VIII Pioneer Meeting will include many mass events, differentiated political activities, diverse cultural, sporting and tourist activities, encounters of pioneers from all over the Republic with public figures, visits to companies and institutions and meetings with the hosting Karl-Marx-Städter population. The VIII Pioneer Meeting is attended by young and Thälmann pioneers from all districts, who excel in exemplary performance in fulfilling the pioneering mission "On the side of the comrades - Always ready!" have distinguished. You will be given a mandate to attend the meeting. The pioneer meeting begins on August 14th in 18 district towns of the district Karl-Marx-Stadt. After peace meetings, the pioneers set out from these district towns on a peace march, which ends on 17 August in Karl Marx City. With a grand opening event at the Ernst Thälmann Stadium, 50,000 pioneers will begin eventful days in Karl-Marx-Stadt. The city center from the Rosengarten over the Schillerplatz to the Brühl and the exhibition halls at the Schloßteich as well as the Küchwald are designed with many thematic centers that reflect the wide variety of pioneering life. The highlight of the program will be the grand pioneer demonstration on August 20 at Karl-Marx-Allee. On the same day, the participants in the VIII Pioneer Meeting will gather for a happy ending around the Schloßteich. With momentum and vigor of the VIII Pioneer Meeting the participants will drive home and give new impulses for the realization of the pioneer order.
