As the largest logistics company in the country, Österreichische Post AG operates in a very energy-intensive business. Every year around 6 billion shipments are delivered - for which the employees of Austrian Post travel more than 200,000 kilometers daily by foot, bicycle and moped, as well as by car and van. The company needs around 15 million liters of fuel with its vehicles and around 180 million kWh of energy per year in its buildings. This leads to CO2 emissions that burden the global climate. Österreichische Post AG is aware of its responsibility to the environment and is therefore constantly seeking optimization potential in order to minimize its ecological footprint. The European postal companies have set themselves the goal of reducing their CO2 emissions by 10 percent by 2012. In addition, Austrian Post has now decided on further measures. The delivery of consignments of all kinds in Austria should be made completely carbon-neutral. Therefore, all letters, parcels and mailings of Austrian Post in Austria are now provided with CO2 neutral. On the one hand, this is achieved through the consistent reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the use of environmentally friendly technologies, and secondly through the efficient use of resources in both transport and building management. The highest priority is always to avoid emissions in our own core processes. All emissions that can not be avoided by Austrian Post and its partner companies are offset by voluntary support for national and international climate protection projects. This means there are no climate-damaging effects on the business activities of Österreichische Post AG. The quality assurance of the underlying CO2 calculations as well as the examination of the supported climate protection projects including their CO2 savings are carried out by the independent certification body "TÜV Austria". The present special stamp is to some extent the philatelic companion of this ambitious environmentally friendly project. The brand image shows the specially developed logo and refers to the corresponding page on the Internet (post.at/co2neutral), where you can find further information on this important topic.
