She was a wooden freighter, sailed with salt cargo, was a sail training ship, hotel, youth hostel and restaurant. The 75-meter sailing vessel »Seute Deern« (»Sweet Girl«) was built in 1919 as a four-masted schooner »Elisabeth Bandi« in the USA. In 1938 it rebuilt the shipping company John T. Essberger. Now provided with a rustic figurehead, served the "Seute Deern" as a training ship of the shipping company. After several stops (including hotel and restaurant ship in Hamburg, youth hostel in Delfzijl) she came in 1966 as a restaurant ship in the "Old Harbor" Bremerhaven. Finally, the city of Bremerhaven bought the ship in 1975 and donated it to the local German Maritime Museum. Today, the "Seute Deern" is one of the city's biggest tourist attractions.
