Treasures in libraries of the GDR The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the GDR publishes four multicolored special postal stamps with the illustrations of treasures in libraries of the GDR. Paper manuscript, Persia, 2nd half of the 18th century. Nizami (Ganjawi) was born in present-day Azerbaijan around 1141 and lived until 1209. He is one of the most important Persian poets. His epic poems were later combined into so-called chasma (fives). This includes the second epic, "Chosrou wa Shirin", written in 1180. It deals with the tragic love story between the Persian king Chosrou and the Armenian princess Shirin.The text is in a fugitive script in two columns with black, the headlines are in red ink The 65 miniatures are assigned to provincial mogul painting and may have been added in the 19th century.
