On the initiative of the 1st Burgenland Association for Minerals and Fossil Collectors based in Oberpullendorf, the Burgenland special exhibition "Minerals and Fossils" took place in 1986. On this occasion, the Mittelburgenland town was dedicated its own stamp. In addition to the provincial government of Burgenland and the municipality of Oberpullendorf, this exhibition was also supported by the municipality of Stadtschlaining. In the municipality of Stadtschlaining is the only Burgenland mine, from which also originates from the stamp motif depicted Antimonite crystal. There was first mined in 1770 antimony ore. In the municipality of Oberpullendorf there were already 500 v. Chr. Chr. An extensive iron production. From the Hallstatt period (Older Iron Age, 800 - 400 BC) and the La Tene period (Younger Iron Age, 400 - 15 BC) were clay pottery, iron knife, bone equipment and just the oldest iron production and smelting in Burgenland (about 500 BC) are detected. Slag places and urn-time potsherds were often found mixed. The Celts, who were carriers of the Late Iron Age, built a considerable iron industry. In the surroundings of Oberpullendorf one could find in the "Pingenfeld" funnel-shaped pits ("Pingen") in the woods, where they dug for razor ore (limonite), which served as raw material for the Celtic iron industry.
