The Styrian Provincial Exhibition took place from 29 April to 29 October 1989 in the traditional trading town of Judenburg. Due to its traffic geography, Judenburg was already destined to play an important role in the history of trade in Styria. A visible sign of Judenburg prosperity is the imposing city tower built between 1449 and 1509. At the present time, however, this city once prosperous as a trading center is also affected by the general steel crisis. The purpose of the state exhibition was to present a comprehensive account of the changes in the economy and society in the mirror image of trade history. The stamp shows a view of Judenburg after a copperplate engraving by Georg Mattheus Vischer (1628-1696).
