This stamp is part of the charity issue in favor of Volkshilfe with drawings by Albrecht Dürer. This drawing is called "Hands of a Praying Apostle." Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) was a German painter who was taught among others by his father. He was a follower of the Reformation. Accordingly, his paintings were of a religious nature, as were his Passion pictures. He traveled through Europe and incorporated his impressions into his well-known landscape watercolors. Since November 20, 1947, the French currency was 1 Franc = 100 centimes on the Saarland stamps. the editorial board therefore records the nominal values of catalog numbers 226 to 378 in centimes.
