The issue of special stamps with surcharges in favor of the »Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe«, whose patron is the Federal President, is to help the social tasks and tasks of the foundation in all areas of sport. The sports brands are this year in the sign of the Olympic Games and the European Football Championship; they show football, tennis, art jumping, clay pigeon shooting, figure skating (pairs) and hammer throwing. The origin of the tennis game goes back several centuries. In its present form it has been played for more than 100 years. For the last time tennis was 1924 in Paris for the program Olympic Games. It is back in Seoul for the first time in 1988 after 64 years. In tennis one differentiates between singles and doubles competitions for ladies and gentlemen, in some tournaments also mixed is played. In Germany, the tennis game has taken a big boost in recent years, which was certainly determined by the outstanding international successes of German players with their role model function. The calendar includes more than 100 tournaments for women and men internationally, which are points for the world rankings. Sporting highlights in professional tennis are the team competitions - the men's Davis Cup, the women's Federation Cup - as well as the four Grand Slam tournaments in Melbourne, Paris, Wimbledon and Flushing Meadow. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has a total of 127 countries from all over the world.
