In keeping with the start of the Handball World Cup in Germany, the first brand of the series appeared on January 2, 2007. In the longest World Cup in handball history so far 24 nations are divided into six preliminary groups in Kiel, Bremen, Magdeburg, Halle / Westfalen, Stuttgart and Wetzlar. The opening match took place on 19 January in Berlin. At that time Germany and Brazil faced each other. The main rounds were held in Dortmund and Mannheim, the quarter- and semi-finals in Hamburg and Cologne. At the finale on February 4, 2007 in the Kölnarena, around 20,000 spectators fanned live. The special stamps of the series »For Sport« appear with supplements in favor of the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe. The aggregate proceeds support the Foundation's work in all areas of sport. The motifs of the four sports brands of this year are dedicated to the topic »World Championships in Germany«.
