The WIPA (Vienna International Postage Stamp Exhibition) not only has a long tradition, it also stands for great philatelic achievements; Around 70,000 people visited the event in 2000. 600 exhibitors - postal companies, dealers and associations - from all over the world presented their "treasures" and thrilled the audience. "At WIPA08, too, world-class peculiarities and precious rarities will once again attract philatelists and those who want to become one," promises WIPA President Gerhard Dusska. The scene of the top-class exhibition will once again be the Austria Center Vienna, as was the case with WIPA 2000. Speaking of which, the economic importance of the national and international congresses and exhibitions organized in the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) is undisputed. As the largest congress center in Austria and among the top 3 in Europe, the ACV hosts most of the major international congresses that can be won for Vienna. With a conversion profitability of 130 million euros per year, the successful event house on the Danube plate generates one third of Vienna's contribution to the gross domestic product. According to the latest ranking of the ICCA - International Congress and Convention Association - Vienna even holds the first place with 129 international events - even ahead of Singapore, Barcelona and Berlin! Of the rarities mentioned above deserve the famous "Bordeaux letter" (the most expensive letter in the world with the only surviving couple of a blue and a red Mauritius on letter), the legendary "3 Kreuzer color misprint" and the most valuable brand of modern philately, the not spent German welfare mark "Audrey Hepburn", special attention. One thing is certain: From 18 to 21 September 2008, the philatelic world will once again be looking to Vienna. And rightly so, because WIPA08 promises to be a great "stamp festival"! With the brand block now available, Österreichische Post AG complements its event-related brand program and thus supports this important event as the most important cooperation partner.
