This was the beginning of the development of a vast area, which became a magnificent park in the following century thanks to the achievements of many architects, artists and garden designers. The highlight of the complex was built between 1745 and 1747, the castle Sanssouci on the highest elevation of the hill, whose southern slope is divided by six swinging in the middle terraces. The architect was Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff (1699-1753), the caryatids of the southern, behind the garden-facing side, created Friedrich Christian Glume (1714-1752).
