In the period from 24 to 27 October 1981, the 7th International Conference of Catholic Workers was held in the Konzilsgedächtniskirche in Vienna-Lainz. The Catholic Workers 'Movement (KAB) was founded as a continuation of the youth movement of the Catholic Workers' Youth (KAJ). The KAB works as a lay movement in autonomous diocesan associations, which are voluntarily united to an umbrella organization, the KAB Austria. The Catholic Workers' Movement is not a substitute trade union and is party politically independent. The 7th International Catholic Workers' Conference was themed "Elements of a social order in Europe - tasks and opportunities". It dealt above all with the efforts of the Catholic-social organizations to the Catholic social doctrine as a service to the people. Representatives of Catholic educational institutions, KAB associations and Catholic trade union movements discussed tasks and opportunities in the future. The KAB also celebrated its 30th anniversary in the year of the congress. The Austrian Post and Telegraph Administration issued this stamp on the occasion of this event. It bears the mark of the KAB Austria. Sprocket, cross and shield are symbols of this socially-oriented religious education and action community.
