The brand image shows a ski jumper and a cross-country skier, representing two sports that are among the main attractions of the Nordic World Ski Championships. In 1985, this international winter sports event took place in the municipality Seefeld in Tirol. The decision for the venue was made at the FIS 1984 congress. It also stipulated that the Nordic World Ski Championships would only be held on odd-numbered years. The federal, state, municipality and Austrian Ski Association were able to organize this sports event excellently despite the very short preparation time. It benefited the organizers that a number of officials had already gained experience in the organizational field at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 and 1976 and Austria could look back on a long tradition in winter sports. In addition, Seefeld had already made a name for itself as a Central European cross-country center at this time. After the founding of the first cross-country ski school in Central Europe, the ski-hiking movement, which has meanwhile reached hundreds of thousands, started from this Tyrolean tourist village.
