From February 4 to 17, 2013, the 42nd Alpine World Ski Championships will take place in the well-known Styrian winter sports resort of Schladming. The venue was already chosen on 29 May 2008 in Cape Town (South Africa) by the 46th FIS Congress, where Schladming was clearly in the first ballot in the vote against the applications from Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy), St. Moritz (Switzerland ) and Vail / Beaver Creek (USA). Schladming, together with Haus im Ennstal, has already hosted the 1982 World Ski Championships - in contrast to the major sports event of that time, however, all competitions are scheduled to take place on the famous Schladminger Planai in 2013. The sometimes different routes will all end in the same finish stadium in the immediate vicinity of the attractive city center. Exciting days dedicated to international skiing are right in front of countless fans all over the world. In the fight for gold, silver and bronze, we hope Austrians, of course, so much patriotism is allowed that the local ski stars such as Marcel Hirscher, Benni Raich, Marlies Schild and Elisabeth Görgl will have a say in the matter. Austrian Post is accompanying the World Ski Championships in a variety of ways, including the publication of the three attractive special stamps available. The motifs of these stamps come from none other than the internationally renowned Austrian painter Christian Ludwig Attersee, who created impressive pictures in the typical Attersee imagery with his paintings "Freedom in the Snow", "Styrian Heart" and "Slalom Dance". Colorful, sensual and powerful and full of poetry, the artist interprets the sporting event by letting passion, exuberance and elegance shine. Asked about the artful poster and brand series that Schladming advertises accordingly, Peter Schröcksnadel, president of the Austrian Ski Association, said: "An extraordinary World Ski Championships need extraordinary pictures." In addition to his work as a painter, Christian Ludwig Attersee also repeatedly appears as a painter Musicians, writers, object makers and designers in appearance. His most important exhibitions include the "documenta VI" in 1977 in Kassel and the Biennale in Venice in 1984 - where Attersee designed the Austrian and first international pavilion. At the beginning of the 1980s, the artist was also seen in many art houses in Austria and Germany with his exhibition "Attersee Werksquer". In 1990 Attersee was appointed Associate Professor at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1992, he was appointed Full Professor of Master Classes in Painting, Animated Film and Tapestry. The works of Christian Ludwig Attersee are located in numerous important museums and international collections.
