International youth work includes international youth exchanges, youth exchanges and other international contacts resulting from the joint educational events of young people of different nationalities, which are planned with pedagogical and political intentions. It is closely linked to political and social education and helps young people to grow into the reality of international commonality, to affirm pluralistic social relations and enriching cultural differences, to recognize conflicts in international life, to reduce prejudices, to eliminate wrong attitudes and to make suitable contributions to the active ones international cooperation in the field of work, education, leisure and education. International youth work is thus education for international understanding and cooperation in the sense of a dynamic peace education. Youth and student associations are authoritative institutions for programs of international youth work; In addition, other organizations and educational institutions are active. In recent years, new forms of international youth work have emerged, non-organized youth and young workers are more involved, and contacts have extended to overseas countries, particularly developing countries. International youth work takes place in various forms with different media: in group encounters, individual and group contacts, joint events of young choirs, young orchestras and youth sports groups, in international meetings, such as For example, the "European Youth Weeks", in voluntary international youth community and social services and in international conferences, courses and internships for youth leaders and the like. From 1950 to 1973 inclusive, the Federal Government gave around DM 132 million (excluding the contribution to the Franco-German Youth Office) to the Federal Ministry of Youth, Family and Health to promote the participation of German and foreign youth in international youth work programs of the Federal Republic of Germany and of German young people in programs abroad. Each year, international programs of youth exchanges with approx. 150,000 to 160,000 German and foreign participants are supported in this way. For a variety of reasons, 1974 will focus on international youth work: further development of the European Youth Work, development of contacts with Eastern European countries and developing countries, training of youth exchanges and youth exchanges. The youth stamps 1974 illustrate some elements and contents of international youth work: social commitment, artistic activity, further education, sport and leisure. The proceeds from the sale of the youth brands will go to the Stiftung Deutsche Jugendmarke e. V. in Bonn-Bad Godesberg.
