Interesting animals from the zoos and zoological gardens of the GDR 15-pfennig value: Sibirian ibex, Zoologischer Garten Halle The Zoological Garden in Halle (Saale) is one of the most scenic internationally known zoos. It is mostly laid out on the Reilsberg and offers from its lookout tower an impressive panorama of Halle and the surrounding area. Hothouses, enclosures, aviaries and the still exemplary and at that time for the entire Zoowelt unique mountain animal rock enclosure, adapted to the natural landscape and framed by beautiful horticultural design of the plantings, harmonious in the atmospheric park. The zoological garden hall was opened on 23 May 1901 after only a few months of construction. In 1961, the generous reconstruction of the entire complex began, which was to be completed in 1976. At the same time, the creation of new areas of experience - with the simultaneous expansion of the previously opened zoological grounds - will begin in the anniversary year 1976. With the Zoologischer Garten, the district capital Halle has a well-known cultural center that is known far beyond the district and state borders, and which has been visited by more than 600,000 citizens every year. Since the founding of the zoo, fundamental scientific work from the zoo has resulted in breeding successes in the history of zoological gardens. Thus, experience with feeding experiments on hummingbirds became the basis of colony conservation in the other zoological gardens. The most important breeding for a long time was that of the Australian Wombats in the zoo hall. A bastard of Griffon Vulture and Kuttengeier was a well-described sensation of ornithological experts. In fact, many important breeds such as: Siberian and Caucasian ibexes, years, chamois, reindeer, alpacas, eyeglasses, hyena dogs, curly bears, flying dogs, nandus, emus and chicken geese succeeded in the respective knowledge of animal husbandry.
